Quality of Life

While there has been much done, there is still so much more to do to continue increasing the Quality of Life of Greater Lafayette. We encourage you to join us on our mission. Greater Lafayette Commerce plans to launch an annual Quality of Life Summit to identify projects to work on and community members to engage with.

Since our original Good to Great plan was released in 2012, we’ve seen:

  • An expansion of the Lafayette and Purdue Farmers Markets
  • An increase of local foods in the downtown culinary scene
  • A revitalization of TC Young Professionals - Greater Lafayette’s premier young professionals organization
  • A focus on bike-friendliness with over 40 certified local businesses
  • A change in municipal code to make streets safer for all who use them
  • Successes from the Wabash River Enhancement Corporation including a Riverside Promenade which will be a key component of new downtown development, the City of West Lafayette and Purdue University partnered to develop the main corridor through Purdue University know as the State Street Masterplan
  • A more pedestrian friendly State Street - connecting the two downtown areas
  • A dedication to shopping local through shop small Saturday events and multiple community-wide scavenger hunts
  • A reinvestment in our community through Lafayette Urban Enterprise Association
  • The creation of the Boiler Bridge Bash event that introduces and invites Purdue student residents to local businesses
