GRAND OPENING: WESTMINSTER VILLAGE

Westminster Village celebrates grand opening of new memory care community

Westminster Village recently marked the grand opening of its new memory care community, Magnolia Court Memory Care.

Incorporating the latest technology and treatment protocols, the new Magnolia Court Memory Care community will provide those dealing with Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related conditions with the very latest in personalized memory care.

"To have memory care available to our residents at Westminster Village meant that we will be able to take care of them for the remainder of their lives, which is something that's very important to me,” said Ben Blankenship, executive director of Westminster Village. “We profess to them that we want to care for them throughout the remainder of their lives when they come to Westminster Village and to truly be able to honor that is something I'm very proud of for Westminster.”

Located at 2741 North Salisbury Street in West Lafayette, Magnolia Court will initiate music, pet and art expressive therapies as well as intergenerational programs.

It will be the first memory care community in Greater Lafayette to introduce a sensory room. Sensory rooms are designed to relieve the pain and stress associated with dementia while also serving to improve an individual’s ability to focus, communicate and remember.

“I am so grateful that there are people who understand the meaning of maintaining the life that we still have,” said Sana Booker, City Clerk of West Lafayette. “I like that you’re continuing to try to respect the dignity of that. It matters. It matters to all of us.”

Managed by Life Care Services, the nation’s third-largest provider of senior living services, Magnolia Court will utilize the LCS company’s signature program, Heartfelt Connections, to ensure residents receive the utmost in compassionate care.

“This was a very direct need in our community, and we’re just so pleased that you have the will and the welfare to go ahead and do this because it takes a lot of planning,” said Sheila Klinker, Indiana State Representative.

Westminster Village has been a member of Greater Lafayette Commerce since 1985.

Scott Walker, president and CEO of Greater Lafayette Commerce presented a plaque to Blankenship alongside former GLC president and CEO, Don Gentry.

“My father passed away in 2020, and he had dementia. I really have a personal connection to what you’ve done here and really appreciate your investment in the community,” Walker said. “Congratulations on launching Magnolia Court and all this brings to the community.”
