FEBRUARY 2026 SMALL BUSINESS OF THE MONTH: ALVAREZ LAWN MAINTENANCE

Alvarez Lawn Maintenance named GLC's Small Business of the Month

By Ali Acosta

When Isaac Alvarez was in middle school, he spent his afternoons knocking on doors in his neighborhood, asking if he could mow lawns or shovel snow. He dreamed of owning a business from a very young age and did everything he could to make it happen.  What he didn’t know yet was how much his ambition, even at such a young age, would eventually shape the course of his life.

Today, Isaac is the owner of two thriving businesses: Alvarez Lawn Maintenance and Snow Removal and Alvarez Party Rentals. What began as a preteen’s side hustle has grown into a pair of successful, expanding companies rooted in hard work, integrity, and long-standing client relationships. One of Isaac’s very first customers even went on to become his close personal mentor — a true testament to the meaningful and connections he has enjoyed with all of his clients. Those lasting relationships remain both a source of motivation for Isaac and a defining characteristic that sets his businesses apart from the competition.

Although Isaac officially launched Alvarez Lawn Maintenance and Snow Removal in 2018 following his graduation from Jefferson High School, he already had a loyal customer base by the time he formally established the company thanks to his quality work, ambition and tenacity.

In 2021, Isaac expanded his entrepreneurial vision by launching Alvarez Party Rentals. In the early years, growing both businesses required balancing multiple jobs and making significant personal sacrifices. Determined to build his companies the right way, Isaac was able to avoid taking on debt, choosing instead to grow steadily and sustainably. Through discipline and careful planning, he successfully built these two flourishing businesses without taking out any loans, a rare accomplishment that would impress even the toughest of critics. Isaac is also grateful for the financial stability his businesses provide for his children while also allowing their mother the opportunity to stay at home with them.

Isaac credits much of his success to a strong work ethic and an intentional mindset. He finds deep satisfaction in earning everything through diligence and perseverance. When asked about the secret to his success, he emphasizes two key principles: resilience and consistency.

Isaac also says the Greater Lafayette community has played an important role in his journey. He describes the area as a rapidly growing city filled with opportunity. Grateful to have been born and raised here, he takes pride in continuing to serve the community as a local business owner. Through positive word-of-mouth and thoughtful client recommendations, his companies have grown right alongside the community itself.
