MARCH 2025 SMALL BUSINESS OF THE MONTH: BUDGET BLINDS OF KOKOMO & LAFAYETTE

Window of opportunity: With a personal touch and community focus, Budget Blinds of Kokomo & Lafayette has become a regional standout

With a personal touch and community focus, Budget Blinds of Kokomo & Lafayette has become a regional standout

Nearly two decades ago, John Fanslar faced a decision that would change the course of his career. When the DuPont Photomask plant in Kokomo shut down, he had the choice to relocate or forge a new path. Opting for the latter, he launched a Budget Blinds franchise in 2005.

Today, his business is a staple in both Kokomo and Lafayette, offering custom window treatments designed to enhance homes and businesses alike.

Unlike larger retailers, Budget Blinds operates with a personalized, in-home approach. John himself remains actively involved in every stage of the process, from consultation to installation, ensuring that customers receive tailored solutions that match their needs and budget.

With a wide range of offerings—from energy-efficient shades to smart home automation—the company serves homeowners looking for both aesthetics and functionality. Their free in-home consultation service brings the showroom directly to customers, simplifying the process of selecting window treatments.

But Budget Blinds’ impact extends beyond window coverings. The company has been an active supporter of local charities and community initiatives, participating in programs aimed at improving the Greater Lafayette area.

As the region evolves, Budget Blinds continues to be a reminder that resilience and reinvention—paired with personal service—can leave a lasting impression, one window at a time.
