  • In 2017, the Quality of Life Council began reassessing the community evaluation and updating the Good to Great Plan accordingly. A Quality of Life survey was implemented and we received a great response.  Thank you to everyone who participated.

Greater Lafayette Commerce's Quality of Life Council was created in October 2012 and is focused on initiatives that continue to make Greater Lafayette a place that is attractive to businesses and their employees.

After a community evaluation in various quality of place indices, eight key goals emerged.

    1. Make Greater Lafayette a place for all people
    2. Make Hilltop to Hilltop the place to be
    3. Greater Lafayette = Green
    4. Develop an after hours app
    5. Retain young talent by increasing occupational options
    6. Enhance Connections Between Greater Lafayette, Chicago & Indianapolis
    7. Continually update, measure & enhance the Quality of Life plan
    8. Create a dynamic "Town and Gown" initiative

There are many more successes consistent with Good to Great: Making Greater Lafayette a Community of Choice, which we can’t take all of the credit for. Since the report was released in 2012, we’ve seen an increase of local foods in the downtown culinary scene, a change in municipal code to make streets safer for all who use them, successes from the Wabash River Enhancement Corporation including a Riverside Promenade which will be a key component of new downtown development, the City of West Lafayette and Purdue University partnered to develop the main corridor through Purdue University know as the State Street Masterplan, revitalization of the Hoosier State rail line  and riverfront development, The Marq in Lafayette.

The council meets monthly to update key progress made in each of the goal areas.
