    Job Description
    The City of Lafayette's Communication and Marketing Department are looking for a Marketing Intern for the summer of 2019. This paid 10-week summer internship will last from May 28 to August 2. This position is 20 hours a week and will be paid $2000.00 for the summer. 

    This position will work collaboratively with the marketing team and City departments to execute marketing campaigns. Manage City social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Nextdoor and Hootsuite. This includes but is not limited to composing daily posts, replying to messages and managing social media advertisment campaigns. The candidate will aid in creating social media content including but notlimited to graphics, photos, promotional content and videos. They will attend events with city officials and capture the event via photograph and live tweeting when applicable. Intern will interact with local media and aid in writing press releases, organizing press conferences and acting as the liaison between the media and various city officials and departments. They will also use Adobe software to create city flyers and brochures. The candidate will be expencted to perform daily duties as assigned by the Marketing Director. 

    We are looking for a currently enrolled college student, majors in Marketing, Communication, Advertising, Political Science, Sociology or Psychology preferred but not required. Candidate must be comfortable speaking in public. Have the ability to work effectively in group settings. Ideal candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign). The candidate must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. Should be willing to work with the public and be comfortable around children. The candidate must have basic photography skills. Candidate must have a valid drivers license and be able to work weekends, holidays and evenings as needed. The candidate must be able to commit to the full time requirements of the internship.
