    As Saab is building a new advanced manufacturing facility in West Lafayette, IN, we are seeking a Supply Chain Supervisor to lead supply chain operations in support the U.S. Air Force new military trainer, the T-7A Red Hawk. To enable this new operation, an extensive transfer of knowledge and technology will take place from Saab’s facilities in Sweden to our new operation in Indiana – and that is where you come in! This unique career opportunity will include the opportunity to train in Sweden. When returning to Indiana, you will lead a team to create a new warehouse and materials management system to receive piece parts, display material to assemble the aircraft, train and lead new colleagues, and take on an active role in forming the state of the art production system.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead activities related to the receiving, storing, and/or shipping of materials or finished goods.

    • Lead by example with safety as the number one priority in Supply Chain through ergonomic and safe handling practices, daily safety talks, stretching and work conditioning, equipment training and audits, and vehicular traffic management.

    • Lead logistics, shipping and receiving, warehousing, and material deployment operations in Supply Chain.  

    • Ensure materials are received from proper vendors, that they are delivered to inventory, and that finished goods are packaged according to specification and shipped in a timely manner.

    • Review receipt of all materials to ensure purchase orders are open and the quality of materials received is correct.

    • Ensure the security and accountability of materials and goods with inventory control.

    • Ensure materials are available to meet production schedules and/or products are shipped as per schedules.

    • Establish and modify standardized work, policies, and leads continuous improvement initiatives

    • Maintain documentation and Key Performance Indicators to reflect the effectiveness and efficiency of department activities.

    • Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

    • Lead a team through a “Plan for Every Part” (PFEP) strategy to establish a supermarket, create kitting carts, create line side flow racks, and to develop standardized work to manage the right part, at the right place, at the right time

    • Conduct periodic inventory/property audits, i.e., cycle counting,

    • Support Government and internal property audits.

    • Understand Import and Export shipping and documentation.

    Skills and Experience:

    • 8+ years of qualified experience in aeronautics or automotive manufacturing.

    • BA/BS degree in a business related discipline.

    • High school degree or equivalent required.

    • Experiencing delivering high levels of quality in compliance with ISO/AS9100 a plus.

    • Ability to execute the appropriate working methods and select the right tools to meet the right level of quality and efficiency.

    • Ability to work with standardized procedures for high repeatability in a highly advanced and connected environment.

    • Excellent communication and team working skills.

    • Ability to travel internationally and obtain a passport is required; it is preferred for candidates to have a valid passport prior to employment.

    Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3). As a condition of employment, candidates will be required to participate in a drug screen and background check that will include, at a minimum, a criminal record check, education and employment verification.
