Description
Join Food Finders Food Bank for our new luncheon series, Nourish & Knowledge. We invite community members to enjoy a healthy lunch and learn from national and local experts about how to fight hunger in our own backyard, improve food security among low-resource populations, limit food waste with retail pick-up programs, and the future of hunger relief in North Central Indiana. Nourish & Knowledge will be the second Thursday of the month from 11:30am-1:00pm Presenter: Katy Bunder, President/CEO Food Finders Food Bank, Inc. Topic: Non-Toxic Charities In recent years, there has been a trend to label some charities “toxic” implying that they discourage able-bodied people from seeking employment and becoming self-sufficient. Katy Bunder, Food Finders CEO, will discuss the myths and realities of this theory and offer advice on differentiating between a toxic and non-toxic charity. Bio: Katy Bunder was raised in Arkansas and educated in Virginia. She moved to West Lafayette in 1985 when her husband, Peter, accepted a position as the Episcopal Chaplain to Purdue. Together Katy and Peter have raised two daughters, renovated three houses and rescued two dogs in their 30 years in West Lafayette. Katy received her B.A. in politics from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in 1980 and her M. Ed. in counseling from the University of Virginia in 1985. She worked as an academic advisor and counselor at Purdue University from 1986-2006. Katy was Founder and Executive Director of New Chauncey Housing Incorporated from 1999-2006. She was Associate Director of Admissions in the Krannert MBA Program at Purdue University from 2006-2008. Katy has been the Executive Director of Food Finders Food Bank since 2008. Tickets are $20, lunch provided.
