The Haan Museum will be celebrating National Ice Cream Day by providing the public with free ice cream cones and sundaes with various toppings. The ice cream cone made its debut at the St. Louis World’s Fair in 1904. This is the same fair in which the mansion served as the Connecticut Building. The Haan Museum reminds visitors of its origins through its celebration of ice cream from the fair.
At 1:30, renowned watercolorist, Rena Brouwer, will be presenting an interactive art project to engage visitors with a hands-on experience with watercolor.
Brouwer, an Indiana artist, was selected as one of the five professional watercolorists to be recognized by the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Brouwer’s work often implements elements of music and performance. This performative nature is highlighted by Brouwer’s invitation to the audience to participate in the art-making process.
