Description
The Long Center for the Performing Arts brings you a free showing of the acclaimed, one-of-a-kind film, Loving Vincent. Stroll Lafayette Streets for the Tippecanoe Arts Federation (TAF) Gallery Walks, then end your evening at the Long Center for the extraordinary chance to see the world’s first fully-painted movie about Vincent van Gogh. Vincent van Gogh is the world’s most famous painter who died never knowing his work would be revered. His tragic death has long been known, what has remained a mystery is how and why he came to be shot. Loving Vincent tells that story through a rare technique designed to echo the painter’s work itself. Loving Vincent brings to life some of van Gogh’s most inspirational paintings to tell his story. The movie was filmed with actors and then literally painted over, frame by frame. van Gogh is famous for his paintings such as Starry Night, Café’ Terrace at Night, Sunflowers, and Wheatfield with Crows, but also for his tortured life. Notably he cut off his own ear and shot himself while painting at his easel. Vincent van Gogh painted to the bitter end of his unhappy, misunderstood life. Now, his life is a masterpiece in film. Loving Vincent is a lush cinematic event and a must see!
