Description
John Davey returns to People's Brewing Company for the first time since his Living Is Trying album release. Joining him will be James Moon on the back of his new album Daytime Sleeper. BIO: Somewhere along the way, songwriter John Davey got a little lost. He smashed the reset button a few times and woke up in a new place. With two LP’s (In a Whelming Tide - 2012 / Living Is Trying - 2014) and some years of momentum behind him including successful shows with other up-and-comers like Liz Cooper, Erin Rae, Jared Bartman (Moon Ruin), Bro. Stephen, Caley Conway, Molly Parden, Count This Penny, and Moor Hound (Steve Marino) and shared bills with more established acts like prolific country blues musician Charlie Parr and Southern California based troubadour Tom Broussau, Davey also attracted positive press from UPROXX, SpeakersInCode, Musical Family Tree and Nashville’s Alan Lomax tribute outlet GemsOnVHS. This wave of minor successes coughed him up on the rugged shores of Lake Superior in Marquette, Michigan where he worked a variety of jobs and formed a rock band to back some of his meatier, upbeat numbers which hadn’t met the stage lights. The formation and abrupt dissolution of that outfit resulted in a series of singles released under Davey’s own name which sparked the production of his newest long playing collection of songs, Toss Your Javelin, produced by gifted polymath Shane Leonard (Kalispell, Anna Tivel, Mipso, J.E. Sunde, Field Report). After a successful Kickstarter campaign raised over $13K for the production of the new record, Davey was back in the game. From exploring the forests surrounding his Wabash River Valley childhood home in Indiana to further wanderings of the state highways and backroads of America, John Davey now explores Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, aesthetics, and philosophy as the host of the podcast Davey Does MQT which serves his artistic community’s interest in the process and motivations of songwriting.
