Description
Christmas at the Haan Museum is magical. Pass two six-foot tall Nutcrackers as you enter the Museum, a Christmas wonderland decorated with trees in almost every room enhance the family-friendly atmosphere. Santas, wreaths, lights, nativity sets, and garland add to the festive feel.
The Trains become a passport as they meander past the Tower Bridge, Westminster Abbey, Kensington Palace, and many other famous London landmarks. Dickens Village buildings complete the exciting landscape.
Visit 19 historic American landmarks in the next rooms, as a larger train passes the Empire State Building, Independence Hall, and other famous east coast buildings. Crawl through a tunnel and watch from inside the loop for an even closer look.
Follow the trains as they travel through a closet and bedroom to another bedroom, where you’ll find Wrigley Field, the Chicago Art Institute and the Chicago Water Tower from the Midwest, and the Golden Gate Bridge from the west coast among other buildings.
Christmas is a special time for families at the Haan Museum, with a lot of hands-on activities for kids. They can play in the gingerbread-style house complete with chairs, stuffed animals and lights; or hold the reins as they ride in a sleigh behind two (stationary) reindeer. They can activate musical characters throughout the Museum to sing and dance. Fragile pieces are put away so that young children can enjoy the many kid-friendly activities.
See if you can identify historic Lafayette building replicas issued by TCHA. The set is now complete, thanks to the recent donations of the Jefferson High School, Frozen Custard, and McCord's Candies buildings.
The Indiana paintings and antiques remain in place during Christmas to maintain the homey feel of the Colonial Revival mansion. The Haan Museum is impressive on an ordinary day, and seeing it all decked out for the Holidays is an experience that your family will remember fondly.
