LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Community Cancer Network is celebrating 11 years of serving cancer patients in an 11-county area. The organization is inviting everyone to put on their walking shoes and participate in the 8th annual Carry the Torch Walk on Sunday, September 30. Carry the Torch is a family-friendly walk that will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Riehle Plaza, in downtown Lafayette. Individuals and Teams can register online at communitycancernetwork.org. The Community Cancer Network is serving non-medical needs for over 50 active patients a month and has requests from about 20 new patients a month. Assistance includes wigs, food, fuel cards, utility assistance, transportation and more. The organization is in need of items for its food pantry and volunteers to help drive patients to their appointments. Teams and individuals are welcome to register, raise donations, participate and show support for those who have been affected by cancer or lost the battle. Event itinerary 1:30 pm: Registration/check-in – All registered participants will receive a free t-shirt. 2:00 pm: Music and festivities begin 2:30 pm: Walk- 1 mile walk through downtown Lafayette. 3:30 pm: Celebration- Join us for more live music, free food and entertainment. ### Community Cancer Network: Community Cancer Network is a nonprofit organization that fights cancer by supporting the patient. Its mission is to meet the non-medical needs of cancer patients in Tippecanoe and 10 surrounding counties. All services are provided to clients at no charge. CCN is supported by individual donors, healthcare providers and other agencies in our area. It networks and collaborates with other nonprofit organizations to avoid duplication of services.
