Everyone has something unique and valuable to share, and we’re shining a spotlight to stories of hard work, brilliant ideas, and creative projects. At 645, presenters share their stories in just 6 minutes and 45 seconds. Join us for a night celebrating the human experience and local creative spirit. This time we’re taking 645 out to the Spot Tavern! Our featured guests include Denise Wilson, Massimiliano Adelmo Giorgini, Ed Finkler / Dead Agent, and James Moon! Here's a peek at who our guests are and what you might hear about - check back for more details! Ed Finkler / Dead Agent Our story begins when Matt Wallace asked his friend Ed Finkler if he’d consider making some music under his alias DEAD AGENT for some video artwork for a gallery showing. Experimenting with abstract geometry, pixel sorting algorithms, and databending procedures - Matt began to create his own aesthetic and branded it “sgt_slaughtermelon.” Ed provided music and so much more - not only coming up with tracks to accompany artwork but putting out an entire EP called “SGT_SL8R_MLN.” This is the story of the simple joy of creating. Denise Wilson There is a different kind of "choir" out there. Rather than being open only to people with "good" voices and meeting regularly to perfect the music for performances, a true community choir welcomes all singers, helps people to grow confident in their natural voices, and is intentional about building meaningful community among members. In addition to all of the scientifically-proven benefits of community singing to mental and physical health, being part of Denise Wilson's choir, Blue Moon Rising, offers members opportunities to sing for good causes - the LUM Thanksgiving dinner, rallies for justice, farmers markets, and organizations such as Joyful Journey (adult day facility). Mass Giorgini Massimiliano (Mass) Giorgini has worked for over 25 years as a record producer on hundreds of internationally distributed albums, including some with Grammy-winning musicians such as Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day and platinum-selling artists such as Rise Against and Mike Kennerty of the All-American Rejects. As a composer, Mass has done soundtrack work for several film studios, including Universal, Disney, and MGM for the films Mallrats, Jennifer’s Body, Bubble Boy, and most recently, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. As a musician, he has performed on songs that have been aired on every major television and radio network in the United States, Europe, and Latin America, and performed to stadium-sized audiences in several different countries. Mass received his Bachelor’s in Psychology, Master’s in Peninsular & Latin American Literature, and his Ph.D. In Golden Age Spanish Literatures from Purdue University. Check out his TEDx talk “The Quixote Code: Oppression and the Art of Subversion,” in which he discusses how his background in socio-political art and linguistic experience contributed to his ability to read the classic novel Don Quixote in a new light – and expose previously unnoticed references to banned books and subversive anti-Inquisition messages encoded between the lines of the work by author Miguel de Cervantes. James Moon When you’re tired of coming up with alibis and your mind is filled with endless prose, when there’s no one left to blame, it’s time to drink the wine and eat the host. Hop on US 231 heading south out of Tippecanoe County and throw on Daytime Sleeper. Ignore the Dollar Trees and the KFCs. Check the speed traps. You might start to think John Prine hitchhiked out to Laurel Canyon and started woodshedding on a hand-made mandolin, broadcasting AM-pirate radio, smoking that seedless Hawaiian and making turquoise jewelry tunes with Dickie Betts and Roland White. But that’s just James Moon doing what he does, making a music of self-reflection and radical honesty. Tune in and hit the road.
